About Us

Our mission is to connect people to a world of interior design that’s more approachable, accessible, collaborative and fun.

How did we get here?

After many years of doing full service design work, we wanted to make the whole “designing your home” thing more transparent and available to more people. In 2005 we started offering our uniquely created “Good Space Interior Design Plans”. We provided an affordable, easy-to-use platform along with an easy-to-follow, straight forward process to take the mystery – and expense – out of collaborating with a professional interior design firm.

Originally, Good Space Plans were an addition to our existing brick and mortar interior design business, and only available to our Vancouver clients. Due to their popularity and growing demand, we took the initiative to go online in 2014, giving us the opportunity to offer our “design done differently” solutions everywhere.

As always, our commitment is to ensure our clients understand the interior design process and the product they are paying for; with an approach that is always client focused. Our clients feel heard, understood, respected, and as a result find it easy to engage with their Good Space Plan Online experience.

We get you!

We believe your home is a place to thrive; where you always feel nurtured and rejuvenated. We help you create the vision and then support you through the process of bringing your custom design to life.

“All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself.”

Good Space Plans Online is a proud mother-daughter run company.

We built Good Space Plans Online knowing that technology can’t replace the human touch. This led to the creation of our highly detailed, hands-on process, allowing us to seamlessly merge what we have traditionally done in-person with the convenience and reach of an online platform.

The intent of good design is to make things better, more functional and ideally more beautiful. We love working together and are passionate about creating nurturing living spaces.

Covenant House (Vancouver) provides love and hope through their Continuum of Care to street youth who have fled physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse.

For 3 years, we have participated in the Sleep Out Movement, an across Canada and the U.S. initiative where dedicated men and women sleep outdoors overnight to raise critical funds and awareness for homeless youth. Each year, the participants take to the streets with only a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard to ensure homeless youth have a safe place to stay. Check out our video

Testimonials

“We could not be happier with our Good Space Plan. The Good Space staff were so kind and helpful, and they really did an amazing job getting to know our tastes, and what we were looking for in our space … or, more importantly, how we wanted the rooms to function and how we wanted to feel in those rooms. Neither of us has a great design sense, just a sense of “I like this/don’t that” and Good Space was able to focus all of that into a gorgeous plan that we could then execute.

The plan was incredibly detailed, including fabric recommendations and the names of stores where we could purchase the things they were suggesting. They took out a huge part of the leg work, and basically all of the aggravation. Instead of having to go to twenty stores and look at hundreds of sofas, for example we went to two stores, compared prices and made our choices based on the style and colour scheme suggested in our plan.

Other great things about the plan. You can take it at your own pace. We were implementing the plan a section at a time, when finances and time allowed.

Susan Nielsen & Goran Fernlund – Client

“Good Space team, I wanted to let you all know how happy Chris and I are with the design plan for our living room. We always wanted this room to finally “grow up”, but we never had the time to really pull it all together. Now that we have an overall plan to start working from, we can budget our time and money for the different stages, knowing what we can do ourselves, and what we should contract out. I can’t wait to see it all finished!”

Anne & Chris Farrer – Client

“Working with Good Space on our new living room and foyer was really fun, and I appreciated that my input and contributions were respected throughout the process. One of the reasons I had hesitated hiring a designer before was because I didn’t know what I was committing to financially, or what was involved. I liked the Good Space concept because it was so clear and understandable, right from the beginning, and I knew all the costs up front. I am also happy knowing that my investment in this Plan has saved me money – no more bad decorating choices!”

Angela Scardillo – Client

“Good design always starts with a good design. Good Space Plans cover all the elements of designing a space, but saves the client considerable expense because they implement it them self. The Good Space process really is ideal for those clients who appreciate good design, but find that hiring a full service designer is not economically viable for them. It is also perfect for clients who just really want to be more hands on when creating their own living environment. I confidently refer clients to Good Space.”
